Groups FAQs

Why Groups?

At Bay Shore we strongly believe that discipleship happens in community. What we mean is that no one is meant to follow Jesus alone. God has designed us to be in a relationship with Him and others. We believe that the support provided by a gospel-centered community is an essential component to being in a relationship with Jesus.

We believe that every individual at Bay Shore should be actively participating in the life of our church through a group. As our church has grown, it has become increasingly important to make sure that no one is getting lost in the crowd. Not only does life change happen best in groups, Jesus created the church to be a group, not an individual. We believe that the cost of life together is the sacrifice of commitment. We encourage you to commit to a group so that you can grow in your faith in the context God created you for: community!

What does a Group do?

Groups do a number of things! Some spend time each week building relationships with one another, studying the passage from that week’s sermon and how it applies to their lives, and praying for one another. Others talk about life and encourage each other through community.

What content to Groups study each week?

The content for our groups is based on the leader, so groups discussion can range from the passage from that week’s sermon and how it applies to their lives to having biblical friendships/relationships.

How are the Groups led?

Each group will have a leader that has been through Bay Shore’s application and training process.

What time do Groups meet and how long do the group meetings last?

Group meeting days/times vary and generally last 45 minutes to an hour.

Does Bay Shore have Youth Groups?

We do! Our Youth Group happens at each campus throughout the month and is a great place for teenagers to learn more about Jesus. Ranging from grades 6 - 12, Bay Shore Youth is a growing community of young people committed to loving the Lord and their community.
